Vilakazi Street Precinct

Vilakazi Street in Soweto is the only street in the world to have been home to two Nobel Peace Prize laureates: Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The street has been transformed into a major tourism precinct featuring Mandela House (Mandela's former Soweto home, now a museum), restaurants, craft markets, tour operators, and entertainment venues. The Vilakazi Street Precinct is one of Soweto's most visited destinations, hosting hundreds of thousands of domestic and international tourists annually, and supporting a thriving cluster of black-owned township businesses.
