About Seplat Energy PLC
Seplat Energy PLC (formerly Seplat Petroleum Development Company) is Nigeria's largest listed independent oil and gas exploration and production company, dual-listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX: SEPLAT) and the Main Board of the London Stock Exchange since 2014 - the first and only Nigerian company to achieve a dual listing on the LSE Main Board. The company was co-founded in 2009/2010 by Dr Ambrosie Bryant Chukwueloka (ABC) Orjiako OFR (born 2 October 1960, an orthopaedic surgeon trained at the University of Calabar and Lagos University Teaching Hospital who transitioned to oil and gas) and Austin Avuru (a Nigerian petroleum engineer and geologist), through a combination of their respective companies Shebah Exploration and Production Company (Orjiako) and Platform Petroleum Limited (Avuru). Seplat has a strategic focus on the Niger Delta and operates 11 oil blocks. In December 2024, Seplat finalised the USD 1.28 billion acquisition of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited from ExxonMobil (after President Tinubu's intervention to resolve regulatory delays), increasing its oil output from 51,000 to approximately 146,000 bpd. Dr Orjiako retired as Chairman in May 2022 after 13 years, succeeded by Basil Omiyi (Independent Chairman). Roger Thompson Brown is the current CEO/Executive Director.
