About National ICT Initiatives Support Programme

The National ICT Initiatives Support Programme (NIISP) is a government initiative in Uganda aimed at fostering the creation of an ICT innovation ecosystem and marketplace for local digital products. Established to address challenges faced by Ugandan ICT innovators in penetrating both local and international markets, NIISP focuses on promoting the development and deployment of software applications to create an open ecosystem that enables the government, companies, and individuals to innovate and reach new markets. The program encourages innovation by providing opportunities to create applications that support service delivery, generates highly skilled jobs and wealth for individuals and companies that develop applications for both government and the private sector, and improves the use of government data for ICT innovation and application development. NIISP operates under the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance.
