About Jubilee Holdings Limited
Jubilee Holdings Limited (JHL), trading as Jubilee Insurance, is East Africa's largest insurance group, founded in Kenya in 1937 by the Aga Khan Development Network. JHL is a multinational financial services holding company with operations in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, and Mauritius, and is the only ISO-certified insurance group listed on three East African stock exchanges: Nairobi Securities Exchange (ticker JUB, since 1973), Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange, and Uganda Securities Exchange. In September 2020, JHL signed a strategic partnership with German insurance giant Allianz SE, under which Allianz acquired controlling stakes (51%-66%) in JHL's general (P&C) insurance subsidiaries in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, and Mauritius, for a total consideration of KSh 10.8 billion (USD 100 million). Following the September 2023 Sanlam-Allianz joint venture forming SanlamAllianz, Jubilee Allianz General Insurance (K) Limited became a subsidiary of SanlamAllianz. JHL retains ownership of its Life and Pensions and Medical insurance businesses. Jubilee has maintained its position as the largest composite insurer in East Africa for 14 consecutive years.
