About Kapa Oil Refineries
Kapa Oil Refineries Limited is one of Kenya's largest fast-moving consumer goods manufacturers, producing edible oils, cooking fats, margarine, baking powder, laundry soaps, toilet soaps, detergent powder, glycerine, instant noodles, and tissue products. The company was founded in 1968 by brothers Dhirajlal Devraj Karania and Mohanlal Devraj Karania (and a third brother) as "Karania Packers," starting with salt packaging and baking powder manufacturing. The name "Kapa" is derived from "Karania Packers." The company produces between 750 and 800 tonnes of products per day at its 70-acre plant on Mombasa Road (next to Syokimau train station), employs approximately 2,500 people, and exports to 18 African countries. Major brands include Kasuku cooking fat, Toss detergent, Prestige margarine, Captain Cook Corn Oil, Rinsun Sunflower Oil, Olivia Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Postman Vegetable Oil, Numi Instant Noodles, Neptune and Softleaf tissues, and Solio Matches. Chairman Mohanlal Karania passed away on 11 July 2020; co-founder Dhirajlal Karania on 2 April 2020. The company is currently led by Nitin Shah (son of Mohanlal) as CEO.
