Tema Oil Refinery

Tema Oil Refinery Limited (TOR) is Ghana's sole petroleum refinery, located in the heavy industrial area of Tema. Established in 1963 and commissioned in 1965, TOR was Ghana's strategic state-owned oil refinery for decades, refining imported crude oil into petroleum products for the Ghanaian domestic market. The refinery has faced significant operational and financial challenges, periodic shutdowns, and ongoing debates about privatisation and modernisation, but remains a significant Ghanaian industrial asset.
