Description

The Hustler Fund (Financial Inclusion Fund) is the Kenyan governments flagship lending programme launched in November 2022 with start-up capital of KSh 50 billion. Loans range from KES 100 to KES 5 million across four tiers: Personal Finance (KES 500 to KES 50,000), Micro Loan, SME Loan (KES 100,000 to KES 2.5 million), and Start-Up Loan. The interest rate is 8% per annum (the lowest in Kenya), with the SME tier at 7-9% pa. The fund operates through M-Pesa, Airtel Money, and T-Kash mobile money platforms. By the December 2024 second anniversary, 24.6 million Kenyans had borrowed KSh 60 billion. The Bridge Loan product was added in December 2024 for repeat borrowers with longer 30-day repayment periods. 5% of every loan goes to a savings account.
